Marcela from De’lish – aka our fabulous Pastry Chef!

What did you want to be when you were growing up? Did you always know you would go into the food business?
“Ever since I can remember I’ve loved food. When I was in High School I started cooking for my family and baking cakes for my friends. I’ve always loved the happiness that food can bring people.”

Name something about you that would surprise De’lish customers.
“In my free time I love to read books and paint with water-colours. And at a younger age I used to play the drums.”

Do you have a favourite dessert shop from your home-town in Colombia? Or a favourite dessert?
“I do have a favourite patisserie shop back home, it’s called ‘Como Pez en el Agua’ (Like Fish in the Sea). And my favourite dessert from home would have to be a layered vanilla cake with dulce de leche and blackberry compote.”

Marcela Cardona – Pastry Chef at De’lish Artisan Food

What would you say is your signature dish to cook?

“My signature dish has changed over the years – a light and moist chocolate cake; pecan pie; three leches flan are just some of them. My most recent one is a nutella and banana cake.”
